Design

I have an odd obsession with cross sections. I love being able to see what’s going on underneath it all and how many different things can be going on at the same time. Here’s two that I ran across and absolutely loved!

Canal Street

Living in the middle of Hollywood is fantastic, except for one thing: it’s a city. There’s not many open areas with big lawns and pretty flowers. My neighbor lives just across the alley from me; literally about ten feet away. That being said, there’s not a whole lot of light that gets in here so there’s no way I can have indoor plants, which I love. This means that I have to supplement with flowers! Here’s some ideas for how to display flowers rather than the usual vases.

Remember when you were a kid and all you wanted was a really cool treehouse, like in the movies? Well, since I’m a kid in a grown-up’s body, I still want a treehouse! Here’s some truly fabulous treehouses that adults would be anything but embarrassed to say they “play” in.

This can count as a treehouse, right?

I’m still barricaded in my apartment, only emerging to workout, work and go to the grocery store. The good news is, my screenplay will be done very soon and I’ll be able to focus on decorating my extremely small, but charming space. I love colors and light fixtures so here’s some that I’m using as inspiration. (Side Note: ever since living in Sevilla, Spain I have a slight obsession for Moroccan lamps)

One thing that I never get tired of looking at is architecture. There are so many different designs, genres, and styles that the options are limitless. It’s like art on a very large scale. My favorite style is modern, but I love Spanish buildings as well. Here’s some of my favorites that I recently ran across. All of them, and many more can be found HERE.

While cavernous, it reminds me of the secret room I one day want to have in my house.

Nothing better than a rooftop lounge/patio.

Indoor pool with a swing. I’ve always wanted an indoor pool and the swing is just extra. Plus, I LOVE blue pool floors.

Floating designs always get the best of me, as does moss.

Love all the windows. One big window is cool, but freaks me out a little bit. I’d rather have a few large windows with this breathtaking view.

An indoor/outdoor pool? Yes please!

Hanging garden + skylight = fantastic design

Love the colors of this building! It looks so relaxing, yet vibrant.

I’ve always wanted a peaceful rooftop garden.

What are some of your favorite kinds of architecture?

I’m in apartment hell. I live in a studio, a box really, and have wayyyyy too much stuff. Unfortunately it’s stuff that I use all the time. I’m in the midst of finishing up a screenplay so all my energy is there, but as soon as that’s done, I’m redecorating!! I have a perfect inset in the wall where a Murphy bed used to be, and I can’t wait to build a bookshelf there. Here’s some designs I’m loving right now!
