ligers vs. tigons

As made famous by the movie Napoleon Dynamite, the Liger is a hybridization of lion and a tiger. I, like many others, thought this was just a funny joke to go along with the farting unicorns he was drawing in the opening credits. But no. The other day, while spiraling into the wormhole that is the internet I learned that a Liger is an actual thing. Furthermore, a Tigon is real too, and there’s a difference between them.

Meet the Liger. The offspring of a papa lion and mama tiger.

Meet the Tigon. The offspring of a mama lion and a papa tiger.
